    Great protection, little too deep

Posted by Steven on 25th Jan 2015

This is one of my first purchases and overall I am satisfied but it has some faults. The biggest one being that a lot of the slots are too deep. I think this is due to the shuttle needing the foam to be deeper but because of thay it can be hard to get some fighters out. The X Wings especially seem like youre almost bending their guns or risking tearing foam. The models are very well protected but it can also be hard to get A Wings out and the B Wings seem to scrape pretty tight. The game storage tray is nice, I can fit just about all my pieces in with little mixing. Though we ran out of room for pilot cards and had to split it with another tray even though we have about half the ships to fill the ship tray. Overall I'm glad I got it, I'll still be buying from this place but I may think over the depth of these trays when I need to store smaller ships.

    Helps to expand your collection

Posted by Unknown on 16th Jun 2014

I like the ship tray a lot. I wanted a foam option for my ships, but pluck foam couldn't handle half of the ships this can. The ship tray is pretty thick, especially when you look at ships like the x-wing or a-wing. The foam is thick enough to stack at least two ships in each of those slots. The token tray really could use a picture to show the intended arrangement of parts. The card slots are clear, and after some trial and error I think I've found the ship base and pilot marker spots. I haven't filled the foam yet and I'm struggling to find a place for the new components. I'm the type to take the empty ship slots as a challenge, and I've been getting ships like crazy since I bought this to try and fill it up. Take from that what you will.

Great Way to store and Transport EVERYTHING you need to play X-Wing

Posted by Jeremy Holiday on 4th Jun 2014

I have spent many hours looking at various Battlefoam Products for my 40k armies, but have never bite the bullet and bought anything. It was the all-inclusive nature of this product that sold me. There is a lot to organize with X-wing, and although this foam set does not have a separate place for everything, it does have room to store everything. It even makes finding various tokens while playing a game easier as well. The ship tray is awesome and keeps the beautiful Fantasy Flight miniatures nice and secure. The card / accessory tray holds everything else you need to play x-wing. My only complaint is the the slot for the cards is sized for cars without card sleeves which makes taking in and out my sets of cards (in card sleeves) a little difficult -- they JUST fit. Overall, this product is great for anyone wanting a solid place to store all the various things required to play x-wing.

    Very Decent Kit

Posted by H. Cross on 26th May 2014

I could use less slots for wave 1 and 2 ships and a few more for ships from wave 3. However, it certainly protects and lives up to its name. Really nice kit.

    High Quality

Posted by Unknown on 21st Apr 2014

The product itself is certainly a very high quality and there aren't any complaints. However, as other reviewers have said, there are issues with the ship storage tray. Putting the large ships in the same foam with the small ships necessitated having a very deep foam. Ships like the x-wing, y-wing, and a-wing fit so deep into the foam that you could literally stack 2-3 copies of this ship on top of each other. One tip--store the small ships upside down so you can grab them by the ship peg to pull them out. The foam is very tight around some of the slots. X-wing cannons can snag and break, as is the case with the b-wing cannons as well. For the accessories tray, it would have been nice to have some kind of guide to where things are recommended to go in the tray. For example, I'm not quite sure where maneuver dials go--they are slightly too tall to stand up straight in most of the slots. Similarly, ship flight bases need to sit horizontally rather than vertically or they will stick out too. And finally, there isn't a whole lot of room for large ship bases--3 bases and the ship cards barely fit in the respective slot (although the ship tray only has room for 3 large ships). For such a small game my X-Wing components take up a LOT of space. I have: this two-tray set for ships and some accessories, a small tackle box tray to keep dice and counters organized, a monster binder to store ship and upgrade cards, and the original core set box to store game manuals, extra card sleeves, and other miscellaneous stuff. And, with the release of the huge ships and wave 4, this tray set will be obsolete...

    Decent Quality, Deceptively Spacious

Posted by Mike Andrews on 14th Apr 2014

While I am fairly pleased with this set, and the quality of BF foam in general, the foam could have been laid out better. This is mainly because some of the ship slots fit only one of their respective ship, while other slots fit two, or even three ships (stacked). For example, A-wings can easily be stacked three deep, while the B-wing slots hold only one. This gives the first tray a storage of only two B-wings, but 12 A-wings... more than most people will ever need. Also, some of the slots (B-wings in particular) are incredibly tight. I've had to trim the foam just so I don't break my models trying to get them out. The second tray holds all of the game's accessories, but if you're using card sleeves (and are planning on filling the ship foam) you will quickly run out of room for the cards. I bought a separate booklet for my ship cards as literally half of them do not fit in the case. Lastly, along with the PACK 216 and this foam, I had to buy a set of foam toppers to complete the set. Is it really too much trouble to include one in this package? This is a good set, and a better all-in-one solution than anything else I've seen, but there are several issues that could be improved upon.

The kind of quality you would expect from Battle Foam

Posted by Blaine Hightower on 2nd Dec 2013

I have bought Battle Foam before so I know of the quality you get. Everything fits in great but I did manage to bend one of my xwings cannons while I was trying to get it out. I do not lay the model down flat so instead I rest it on its engines so the is pointing straight up at you. This way it is easier to get out now and works fine. There is even enough room for your cards if you decide to use card sleeves (not the hard plastic ones but the soft ones you would use for Magic). Just go ahead and buy this set so you can protect your models. That is the hardest part of any game with small models (like 40k)is getting them from point a to point b safely and storing them in a safe way as well.

    Lots of spaces!

Posted by Mark on 28th Nov 2013

This was my first Battle Foam purchase. I got it for the x-wing game. The cut-out spaces were very precise. I would have liked a diagram for the component tray to know where each item would fit best. Also, the tray for the dials and such could have used more support. I am going to have to apply a layer of plywood so it does not droop. Otherwise, a very fine product.
