I want to start by saying this is perfect for the player who has not gone full in on buying dozens of ships. It holds a good amount of what you need for solo or small scale Hotac. The tie slots are good, the wing slots hold multiple spacecraft, and the tie advanced slots can hold interceptors in addition to x1 and v1. My only complaint is that because of the extra "bulk" of the cover foam the box does not close completely. Granted this is a minor thing that most wont care about, but it would be maybe a little better if instead of a 1/4 foam piece it was a heavy card stock plate that was used. That minor complaint aside, this is still a great little piece of kit and I would recommend it for anyone looking for good storage for their beginner fleet.
This is an excellent storage solution that utilizes the game box. I like the foam lid that covers up the hole in the original game box.
This foam tray can easily fit more of your ships than it looks like due to it being 2" foam. Here's my rundown... 4 x Tie Fighter 4 x Tie Advanced (looks like 2) 6 x Y-Wing (looks like 2) 6 x X-Wing (looks like 3) You will have some difficulty fitting all your game tokens and cards in the slot provided as your fleet grows. Not a complaint but a slightly better slot arrangement would have been... 6 x Tie Fighter slots 1 x Tie Advanced shots 1 x Y-Wing slot 2 x X-Wing slots ....gotta let those Tie fighters swarm and you'd still have plenty of rebel ships due to their points cost. I still recommend this product but see room for improvement if you only wave 1 ships.
This is a nice inexpensive way to store your items that come in the game box for X-Wing
